Hughes is offering HughesNet Services Tools. These are services and tips to help you get the most out of your online experience. This is a detailed description of the HughesNet Service Tools feature.


Procedure/Solution:

  • Hughes is releasing several tools to assist you in keeping your HughesNet service running at peak performance.
  • The HughesNet Service Tools page is at http://services.hughesnet.com//
  • You can elect to use any or all of these tools.
  • Here is the list of the tools that are available to you.

Tool Name Purpose User Experience Downloadable
This is a tool that will allow you to reset your download threshold yourself. You are allowed one complimentary token per billing cycle and you can also purchase single tokens if you exceed your download threshold. You can ONLY purchase tokens when you have exceeded your threshold. You will be directed to a website where you can put in your SAN and Zip code. You can choose to either use your complimentary token (if available) or purchase a token.
A new utility that will run on your PC and is used to indicate when you have exceeded your download threshold.When you exceed your download threshold, this monitor will turn red and a pop-up will show up in the system tray. This popup will allow you access to the restore tokens site to reset your download threshold. Yes. From the HughesNet Service Tools website.
A new utility that will run on your PC that will enable you to automatically schedule downloads during the Download Zone or at another time. You will be presented with a screen that has information on the download manager and with a button to download it.Yes. From the HughesNet Service Tools website.
A time period when you can download files without impacting your download threshold. You can download files without impacting your download threshold from 2 am - 7 am ET every morning, seven days a week.No. Information is available on the HughesNet Service Tools website.
These are the standard set of tools available to you to optimize your PC and browser settings for best performance over satellite. In addition, HughesNet Tools automatically checks the system for common problems, and recommends quick fixes to resolve typical email, connection, security and software issues.You will be presented with a screen that has information on the HughesNet Tools and with a button to download it. Restore Tokens

Access the Restore Tokens feature by clicking on the Restore Tokens image.
Note: Complimentary tokens do not roll over to the next billing cycle if they are not used.

  1. You will need to type in your SAN and the zip code of the modem's physical location and then click Continue.
  2. This will bring you to the Tokens page.

    It has the following information:
    • Download Threshold - OK or Exceeded OK means that you remain under your download threshold.
    • Current Service Plan - Home, Pro, Pro Plus, Elite, Elite Plus, Elite Premium
    • Download Threshold - for your current service plan
    • Check Token Usage History - displays activity on the account regarding tokens
    • Complimentary Tokens - 1 available per billing cycle
    • Purchase Token - shows price per token - varies by plan
If the Threshold displays Exceeded, the account has surpassed the download threshold and you can choose to use the complimentary token, if available, or buy a token.
  • Use the Complimentary Token (if available)
    1. You put a check in the select checkbox for the complimentary token
    2. Click Submit
    3. Once the process has been completed, the following screen will be displayed. Your account is not charged for complimentary token transactions.
  • Purchase a Token
    1. Put a check in the select checkbox for Purchase Token.
    2. Click Submit
    3. Once the process has been completed, the following screen will be displayed. Your account will be charged the amount indicated.
  • The Check Token Usage History will reflect these actions
Note: The purchased token associated with charge will be applied to your account and will appear on your next billing statement.

Status Meter : Version 2.9 or greater is now available on our website. This version will be able to receive automatic updates without any additional intervention. We advise you to go and update your Status Meter so that can always have the latests version available.
  1. Select the Status Meter option from the HughesNet Service Tools and HughesNet Status Meter page displays.
  2. Click on the Install Now.
    Note: Loading this software may trigger a pop-up message from virus protection software. If the message asks if the source reliable, select yes.
  3. If prompted, agree to have Adobe AIR installed on your computer if you wish to continue (Yes).
  4. You will be asked if you agree to the download (Install).
  5. Choose the preferences and click on Continue.
  6. Agree to the License Agreement if you wish to continue (I agree).
  7. Once the software has been loaded, the Indicator icon will appear in the system tray
  8. When you click the icon, one of following will display (depending on the software version and type of remote):
    1. Version 2.9 or later (HN9000)
    2. Version 2.9 or later (DW7000 or HN7000S)
    3. Version 1.1 (DW7000, HN7000S and HN9000)
       
      • Version 2.9 or later (HN9000)
        1. This system has reached the service plan threshold. You can click on the "HughesNet Flex Tokens" link to use your complimentary token or to purchase one.
        2. This system has not reached the service plan threshold. You can click on the "Click for details" link which will take you to the Download Manager page.
        3. This icon means that the modem is not detected or there is a connection problem. Make sure all cables are secure on the PC and modem and try again.
      • Version 2.9 or later (DW7000 or HN7000S)
        1. This system has reached the service plan threshold. You can click on the "Download Zone" link to use your complimentary token or to purchase one.
        2. This system has not reached the service plan threshold. You can click on the "HughesNet Service Tools" link which will take you to main HughesNet Service Tools page.
        3. This icon means that the modem is not detected or there is a connection problem. Make sure all cables are secure on the PC and modem and try again.

           
      • Version 1.1 (DW7000, HN7000S and HN9000)
        1. This system has reached the service plan threshold. You can click on the "HughesNet Restore Tokens" link to use your complimentary token or to purchase one.
        2. This system has not reached the service plan threshold. You can click on the "HughesNet Service Tools" link which will take you to main HughesNet Service Tools page.
        3. This icon means that the modem is not detected or there is a connection problem. Make sure all cables are secure on the PC and modem and try again.
