FAQsQ: Why is HughesNet upgrading our email service?
A: We have a new and improved email service with an enhanced Webmail application, increased storage and much more including:
- Drag-and-drop functionality
- Message preview pane
- Rich-text message composition
- Photo slideshow with audio playback
- Full-featured contact manager
- Fast, powerful search
- Multiple language support
- User-configurable spam control
- Up to 25MB attachments
Q: When is this upgrade going to take place?
A: The email upgrade will begin on Tuesday, June 24, 2008.
Q: Is my email safe?
A: We have prepared extensively for this upcoming email upgrade. Every possible precaution has been taken. Each procedure has been examined and tested in detail to ensure the safety of your email.
Q: Will all the current email features be moved?
A: If your contacts are stored online within webmail, they will be migrated during the upgrade. Signature Files, message rules and your calendar entries will not be migrated.
Q: Have any features been removed?
A: The calendar has been removed for now. It is very high on our priority list and a brand new and improved calendar should be available by year-end.
Q: Will my filters be impacted by the upgrade?
A: Any filters requiring an email program (such as Outlook Express or Thunderbird) will continue to function as usual. If you have created filters within webmail, you'll have to re-create them, once you start using the new Webmail client.
Q: How will I know when Im on the new email system?
A: If you log into webmail, you'll notice a dramatically improved webmail experience. If you use an email program such as, Outlook Express or Thunderbird, you probably won't notice the difference, except that reliability, speed and performance will be improved. You'll also notice a new Junk folder that traps incoming spam. Back to Top
