Clean a Virus from Your Computer
Introduction:
Virus cleaning is a four-step process including:
- Removal of virus(es) from your computer.
Note: Removal of the virus(es) does not protect your
computer from future virus attacks. Please complete all four
steps.
- Protecting your computer to prevent future infections.
- Installing all Microsoft applicable security patches.
- Obtaining and installing a firewall.
Procedure/Solution:
Scan, identify and clean your system. Use the free scanning utility available at the following web site (Microsoft recommended):
- Browse to Trend Micro at
http://housecall.trendmicro.com.
- Click Scan Now. It's Free!

- Check the box to accept the Terms of Use (once you
have read the terms of use)
- Click Launch House Call

- Trend Micro tests the platform and browser

- You can run House Call now, you need to choose from:
- Using Java-based HouseCall kernel
- Browser plug-in installing and using the HouseCall
Kernel

- If a Security Warning screen displays, click Yes.

- Choose scan complete computer for malware, grayware and
vulnerabilities from the following two:
- Scan complete computer for malware, grayware and
vulnerabilities
- Scan individual selected folder only for malware
- Click Next

- Please wait while HouseCall scans your system.

- Click on the Results tab (The scan might take quite
some time before you will be able to see the list of detected
malware, grayware/spyware and other vulnerabilities).
- Scroll down and click on Clean now.

Update your existing anti-virus program with the latest virus definition (DAT) file from your provider. If there is no anti-virus program installed, you must obtain one.
